Electoral reform, Opposition motions, Voting and voters

Réforme électorale, Vote et électeurs,

Mr. Speaker, if we want to avoid wasted votes, we have to get people genuinely involved. The consultations called for in this motion are very important. We need to be on the ground involving people who do not usually get directly involved in politics. We have to go see them and find out what they think. They have to feel included in the process. That will make a big difference and will help make people in this country feel less apathetic. I am excited to see how this plays out.

Monsieur le Président, si on veut éviter les votes gaspillés, il faut impliquer les gens d'une manière réelle. Donc les consultations mandatées dans cette motion sont très importantes. Il faut aller sur le terrain et impliquer les gens qui ne s'engagent pas dans la politique directement. Il faut aller les voir et savoir quelles sont leurs opinions. Il faut qu'ils se sentent inclus dans le processus. Cela fera une grande différence et contribuera à diminuer l'apathie dans ce pays. J'ai vraiment hâte de voir comment cela va se dérouler.
